Majority of low-income children and adolescents suffer from mental health disorders and the risks are higher from a general population. For instance, Research has found that youth from low-income households are at increased risk for mental health problems (Howell, 2004). This is a social issue because 50% of youth in child welfare and 67-70% juveniles have mental health problems than children and youth in the general population, (Burfeind, J. W., & Bartusch, D. J, 2006). This shows the social struggle in low-income communities and the lack of healthcare is the cause mental health disorders.
