Claim # 3
Mental health disorders is a social issue because it affects children and adolescents involved in juvenile centers. The justice system disproportionately affects their disorders because their behavior is troubled due to violence and trauma. For example, “juvenile justice systems are more likely to exacerbate delinquency than cure it, especially when young people are incarcerated or placed into group treatment programs where they interact with other troubled and trouble-making teens” (Mendel.D,2010). This shows that the system lumps kids together with similar behaviors and the exposure worsen their behavior based on the environmental settings.
